US oil company Cobalt finds more oil in Angola

US oil company Cobalt International Energy has found more oil in Angola’s block 21 where it is prospecting in partnership with Angola’s Sonangol and other companies, the company said in a statement issued in Houston.

According to the statement, a well was drilled to a depth of 5,739 metres which found around 56 metres of oil and condensates in alternating layers.

This discovery is the fourth by Cobalt International Energy in Angola’s pre-salt layer.

The US company is the block 1 operator with a 40 percent stake and the remaining partners are Angolan sate company Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção, Nazaki Oil and Alper Oil Limitada. (macauhub)
