Three mining companies have started mining for coal in the Moatize district of the central Mozambican province of Tete. The three companies are joining another four that already operate in the area, the provincial director for Mining Resources said.
Manuel Sithole also said that the three companies – Minas do Revuboé, Ncondezi Coal Company and Midwest Africa – started mining as soon as prospecting work concluded.
The three companies hold 25-year exploration licenses, Sithole said giving no details about the amount of coal that will be mined or investments carried out. (macauhub)
