Angolan bank Banco de Comércio e Indústria provided 1.43 billion kwanzas (US$14.6 million) to support businesses taking part in the Angola Invest Programme (Programa Angola Investe), to support micro, small and medium-sized Angolan companies, a director at the bank said Wednesday.
Luís de Almeida, BCI director for Companies and Institutions, said that of that amount 903 million kwanzas were provided as loans to seven companies and another seven companies received 527 million kwanzas.
Amongst the 14 investment projects the BCI director gave the example of one to tap, purify and bottle mineral water in Kwanza Norte province.
Almeida also mentioned investment in a factory manufacturing school desks, two bakeries and a tomato sauce, fruit juice and pulp factory in Kwanza Sul province.
Last November, the board of BCI signed a memorandum of understanding with the Economy Ministry to add 2 billion kwanzas to the Angola Investe fund. (macauhub)
