The Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) Hotel and Tourism School (EHTCV) is an “excellent” example of Luxembourg’s cooperation with the West African archipelago given the “good results” it has achieved, said the dean of the school, Cláudia Fernandes.
EHTCV is the result of a joint Cabo Verde/Luxembourg project and was set up to make up for a lack of qualified staff in the tourism sector.
During the recent visit by Luxembourg’s Prime Minister, Xavier Bettel to Cabo Verde, Fernandes told Cabo Verde news agency Inforpress that since the school opened 546 students had been trained.
She noted it was important to increase cooperation with Luxembourg as work on the students’ halls of residence, next to EHTCV, due to be finished in April of this year were delayed by about a year.
EHTCV opened on 28 March 2011 and was officially inaugurated on 19 July of the same year. the ceremony was attended by Cabo Verde’s Prime Minister, José Maria Neves, and by Luxembourg’s Minister for Cooperation and Humanitarian Action, Marie-Josée Jacobs. (macauhub)
