India pledges to set up technology centre in Timor-Leste

The Indian government has offered to set up an information technology centre in Timor-Leste (East Timor), the Indian ambassador to Indonesia and Timor-Leste, Gurjit Singh, said.

On a recent visit to Dili, during which Timor’s Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão received him, the ambassador handed over a document that made India’s offer official.

India is also offering Timor-Leste ten scholarships for further and higher education as part of a programme of technical and economic cooperation. The scholarships were taken up for the first time in the 2013/14 academic year. (macauhub)
