Mozambique’s National Statistics Institute plans to conduct second business census

1 April 2014

The 2nd Business Census, a statistical operation to gather data on the structure and distribution of companies in Mozambique, will be carried out between 2014 and 2015, the Mozambican National Statistics Institute (INE) said in Maputo.

According to Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias, the census will make use of producers, users and suppliers of statistical information and the data produced will provide a clearer picture of the country’s business reality.

INE also said that the census data would be used for construction/updating the Statistical Units File (FUE) as a way of improving production of an access to quality economic statistics, as well as an Integrated Economic Statistics System (SIEE).

The INE Department for Sector and Company Statistics said that, amongst other aims, the census data would also feed the FUE and SIEE and be the basis for producing and providing consistent and up to date information, within a reasonable timeframe.

According to initial projections data will be collected from October 2014 to January 2015 in the south of the country and in the north and centre from February to May 2015. (macauhub)
