The Benguela Railroad (CFB) passenger train will run once again between Luena and Luau, in Angola’s Moxico province, as of next July, said provincial governor, João Ernesto dos Santos Liberdade.
The governor announced that technical issues had been overcome along the 25-kilometre section between Cassai Gar andCaifuchi, in the municipal areas of Cameia and Luacano.
He also said that the train would be important for passenger and goods transport along the Angolan coat to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and to Zambia.
After being at a standstill for 30 years the first train arrived in the border area of Luau in November 2013.
This year the train link between Lobito and Luau is scheduled to be completed. The rail link between Lobito and Luena, the capital of Moxico province, has been open since August 2012.
The Angolan government has invested around US$2 billion in repairing the Benguela Railroad.(macauhub)
