Japan funds new fish market in Maputo, Mozambique

Work to build the new fish market in Mozambique’s capital, Maputo, on Avenida Marginal in the Triunfo area, is due to begin before the end of April, officials said.

The new market, which has received funding of US$12.6 million from Japan, will be built near the ATCM Autodrome and have 100 retail stalls and a restaurant area with 75 tables.

It will also include 40 food kiosks and a car park with capacity for 125 vehicles.

The new market will also have other facilities such as ice-making machines and ice storage facility as well as refrigeration units for storing fish.

The project also includes a management system for the market’s waste, a water drainage and treatment network and other facilities.(macauhub/MZ)
