The Norwegian company Aker Solutions announced on Tuesday that it had obtained a US$2.4 billion contract to supply the French oil group Total with an underwater production system for the Kaombo project in Angola’s offshore bloc 32.
Located 90 miles from the Angolan coast, Kaombo is one of the world’s biggest underwater oil exploration projects.
The contract terms stipulate that Aker Solutions must begin delivering the first equipment, specifically 20 underwater distribution tubes, in the second quarter of 2015.
Company president Øyvind Eriksen indicated in the statement announcing the contract that it was yet another step toward strengthening existing relations with the Total group and expansion in Angola. (macauhub/AO)
