17 April 2014

The Hong Kong company Metrojet has been chosen by the executive aviation division of Embraer (Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica) to run the first Authorised Service Centre for the Legacy 500 jet in mainland China, the Brazilian company announced in a press release.

The respective contract was signed during the 2014 Asian Business Conference and Exhibition (ABACE) in Shanghai and expands a previous agreement signed in 2011, the statement indicates.

The new contract expands the level of services provided by Metrojet, the first Authorised Service Centre of Embraer Executive Jets in mainland China. It is already responsible for line and base maintenance of the Lineage 1000E, Legacy 650 and Legacy 600 executive jets.

Metrojet was founded in 1995 and is a leading operator and supplier of executive jet maintenance services in the region. It also pioneered executive aviation services in Hong Kong, where it received the Air Operator Certificate in June 1997; it is the only fully authorised executive jet operator in Hong Kong.

Embraer meanwhile announced that it had delivered 14 commercial jets and 20 executive jets during the first quarter of 2014, a total of 34 aircraft compared to the 29 delivered in the same period in 2013.

Last 31 March the portfolio of firm orders amounted to US$19.2 billion, 1 billion more than the December 2013 figure. (macauhub/BR/CN)
