Macau receives 7.7 million visitors between January and March

Macau received almost 7.7 million visitors between January and March of this year, which was a year-on-year rise of 9 percent, the region’s statistics and Census Bureau said.

Visitors from mainland China and South Korea in the first three months of the year rose by 17 percent and 18 percent, respectively, whilst visitors from Hong Kong and Taiwan increased by 9 percent and 4 percent, respectively.

In the first quarter of the year visitors remained in Macau for an average of 1.0 days, which was unchanged from the same quarter of last year.

In March alone 2.6 million people visited Macau, a year-on-year rise of 10 percent, of which 1.7 million were from mainland China. (macauhub/MO)
