British company Savannah Resources, formerly African Mining and Exploration, has hired three geologists for its technical teams in Mozambique and Oman, the company said in a statement.

to its heavy sands project in Jangamo, in Inhambane province, Southern Mozambique, the London Alternative Investment Market (AIM) listed company has sent two of the three geologists, one of which, Dean Wadsworth, will take on the role of exploration director.

The other geologist hired for the team in Mozambique, Colin Rothnie, is specialised in heavy sands and previously worked on the heavy sands project of Irish company Kenmare Resources in Moma, Nampula province.

The company’s concession is next to the Mutamba concession, which is currently explored by Anglo-Australian company Rio Tinto, and it is expected to have a high potential for exploration of minerals such as rutile, ilmenite and zircon.

Savannah Resources, which raised around US$2.5 million for the Jangamo project to go ahead, has led the concession since October 2013 when it acquired 80 percent of Matilda Minerals Limitada, which still has a 20 percent stake in the project. (macauhub/MZ)
