The fourth edition of the Benguela International Multi-sector Fair (FIB) starts Wednesday and its organisers plan to promote the economic and industrial potential of southern Angola and attracting national and international investments.
The Fair, which is due to end on 18 May, has 273 exhibitors, which is 12 percent more than the 2013 event and an exhibition area of 12,000 square metres.
The fair’s organiser, the Benguela provincial government, also intends the fair to bolster the economic upturn already seen in some sector’s of the provinces economy, such as agricultural industry and processing, transport, construction and tourism.
Benguela is an exit route for raw materials from the democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia and a link to European and American markets through the port of Lobito and by railway to the province of Huambo, Bié, Huíla, Namibe and Kwanza Sul.
The first edition of the International Fair was held in 2011. (macauhub/AO)
