New jetty at port of Cabinda now able to receive ships safely

The new jetty at the port of Cabinda is safe and of enough quality to receive large and medium draught ships carrying container cargo, said the chairman of the Port of Cabinda management company.

Manuel Nazareth Neto invited import agents in Cabinda province to use the local port to receive their goods rather than using the port of Ponta Negra (in Congo Brazzaville) where costs are higher.

“The port of Cabinda currently has a jetty that is capable of receiving long haul ships, which had not been the case for over 20 years,” said Nazareth Neto.

The chairman of the Port of Cabinda also said that the second phase of the project for modernisation and expansion of the port’s facilities included construction of the Caio deep water port and announced that it had already managed to attract 35 percent of the traffic that previously passed through the port of Ponta Negra.
