Macau received 12.85 million visitors from January to May, which was a year on year rise of 9 percent, according to the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau.
In the first five months of the year more than 8.6 million people visited Macau from mainland China, around 2.65 million from Hong Kong, 380,000 from Taiwan and 225,000 from South Korea.
In May 2.52 million people visited Macau, which was a year on year rise of 8 percent, of which 1.7 million were from mainland China, or 14 percent more than in May 2013.
Visitors from Taiwan (76,000), South Korea (39,800) and from Japan (26,600) increased by 23 percent, 20 percent and 18 percent year on year, respectively. (macauhub/MO)
