The future soft drinks factory in Angola’s Huambo province built by Refriango will start operating at the end of 2015, the company’s events director, João dos Santos said Tuesday.
Dos Santos added that the decision to build a new factory was base don the need to reduce pressure on the company’s existing factory in Luanda province, in Angola’s northern corridor, which ahs a production capacity of 1 billion litres per year and 27 filling lines for a variety of packaging.
“Refriango expects to inaugurate a new factory in Huambo province at the end of 2015, with capacity to produce half a million litres per year, which will make it possible to distribute products to Angola’s southern and western corridors,” dos Santos said.
The new factory will be located in the Cambiote area, on the outskirts of the city of Huambo in a plot of around 10 hectares.
Last May Refriango set up what it called a strategic partnership with Portuguese coffee group Delta Cafés, which became the official distributor of the Angolan company’s products in Portugal, specifically of its Blue brand, which is one of 15 brands that Refriango owns.
Refriango has been in the Portuguese market for three years, basing its business model there on the so-called “nostalgia market”. (macauhub/AO/PT)
