16 July 2014

Angola’s Finance Minister, Armando Manuel, has announced that the initial projection for gross domestic product (GDP) growth in 2013 is 6.8 percent, according to Angolan news agency Angop.

Manuel who was speaking at the ceremony to approve the annual reports and accounts of state companies said he hoped that “in the mid term the economy can see rates of GDP growth of 6 percent and that reforms underway focused on the public sector allow for a significant contribution to expected levels of growth.”

The minister pledged to make efforts to ensure a favourable economic climate for companies, particularly those in the non-oil sector.

As part of those efforts Manuel noted the approval of laws that were starting to have an impact on the economy in 2014 and 2015 and which consolidate changes to the country’s taxation system.(macauhub/AO)
