21 July 2014

Chinese group Alibaba and Brazilian mail company Correios do Brasil last week signed a memorandum of understanding to facilitate e-commerce and goods imports and exports, the Brazilian press reported.

From Correios do Brasil’s point of view the aim is to help Brazilian companies, particularly micro, small and medium-sized companies, to have access to the Chinese market through platforms such as Alibaba.com, Aliexpress.com and Tmall.com, and the memorandum includes improved access to online payment system Alipay.

The partnership, which is intended to improve logistics between the two countries, is the result of growth of the e-commerce market between Brazil and China.

At the end of 2013 the Alibaba.com website had 2 million registered Brazilian users and Correios do Brasil is responsible for delivering 75 percent of international orders that reach the country. (macauhub/BR/CN)
