China’s AFECC build hotel in Maputo, Mozambique

30 July 2014

China’s Anhui Foreign Economic Construction Corporation (AFECC) will build a five-star hotel in Maputo, Mozambique, which is due to be finished in 2015, the latest edition of African Business reported.

The magazine said that the new hotel, with 290 rooms and conference centre, will cost US$250 million.

The hotel will be located on the Maputo coast road (Avenida Marginal) next to the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Centre where two other five-star hotels are already located: Polana Serena and Radisson Blue.

This will be the third hotel that AFECC has built in Mozambique. Earlier in July another of the group’s hotels – Pavão Dourado (Golden Peacock) – was inaugurated in the city of Beira.

AFECC also built Maputo’s new international airport, the Matola national stadium, government ministry buildings and is also rebuilding roads and bridges throughout the country. (macauhub/MZ)
