Trade between Mainland China and Macau fell 7.2 percent, to US$1.66 billion in the first six months of 2014, according to figures from China’s Trade Ministry.
Exports from Mainland China to Macau fell by 1 percent to US$1.55 billion in the same period whilst Macau’s exports to Mainland China totalled US$110 million, falling by 50.6 percent against the same period of 2013.
Macau’s investments in Mainland China in the first half of the year accounted for 0.8 percent of total foreign in +vestment in China in the period, the ministry said.
The Chinese authorities in the first six months approved 161 investments from Macau in Mainland China, which was a rise of 15 percent against the same period of 2013.
In the same period, companies from Mainland China were involved in seven contracts in Macau with profits of around US$240 million. (macauhub/MO)
