6 August 2014

The 11th Huíla Agro-Livestock Fair will take place from 9 to 17 August and count the presence of 25 Angolan and foreign agro-industrial companies, the director of the Southern Angola Cattle Breeders Cooperative said on Tuesday in Lubango.

Álvaro Fernanes told Angop news agency that companies from the provinces of Benguela, Cunene, Kwanza Sul, Namibe and Huíla (host), as well as from Namibia, South Africa and Argentina, had confirmed participation in the fair, which takes place during local festivities dedicated to Our Lady of the Mount.

Besides the animals (cattle, goats, sheep, horses and pigs) on show, with more than a thousand head of cattle also up for auction, the participating companies will showcase and demonstrate agro-industrial equipment and agricultural technology.

This year’s fair programme also includes the sixth international technical conferences on beef cattle raising, addressed to breeders and specialists.

The Southern Angola Cattle Breeders Cooperative was established in 2004 and now counts more than 600 members. (macauhub/AO)
