The study cited by the Portuguese press took into account “tax free” sales to foreigners from outside the European Union who can then seek reimbursement of taxes on the purchases they made.

The study gives only the amount spent, on average, in each of the five areas reviewed by JLL, namely: Avenida da Liberdade, Rua Castilho, Baixa, Chiado and Principe Real.

The shopping areas where foreigners spend the most money is Avenida da Liberdade, where the big luxury brands such as Prada, Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss and Gucci area located and where non-EU tourists spend an average of 871 euros. (macauhub/AO/CN/BR/PT)
