Delegation of China Three Gorges visits Portugal for new partnership agreements

The chairman of the China Three Gorges Corporation, Chun Lu is due to travel to Portugal in the last week of October leading a delegation to meet with the Portuguese President, Prime Minister and EDP officials, João Marques da Cruz, of the EDP executive committee told weekly publication “Plataforma.”

Marques da Cruz also said that during their stay in Portugal the delegation from China Three Gorges would sign an agreement for EDP and the Chinese company “to get together to invest several areas of renewable energy, water or wind in various parts of the world. ”

The member of the executive committee of EDP said he expected a number of projects of EDP Energy Solutions would be announced by the end of the year for Macau so that the region can be used as a technology transfer platform for China as well as consulting services for offshore wind farm projects and “smart grids”.

Marques da Cruz also noted that EDP and China Three Gorges want to continue to invest in building dams as they are already doing in Brazil and Portugal, and in wind farms in North America, South America and Europe.

Referring to the possibility of boosting economic ties between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa, Marques da Cruz said that the best method was the “entry of Chinese capital in Portuguese companies and then these companies having enough financial muscle to invest and do business in Africa. ” (macauhub/PT/CN)
