Carlsberg and Heineken want to open factories in Timor-Leste

22 October 2014

The government of Timor-Leste (East Timor) is studying proposals from two international brewers that have shown interest in building factories in the country.

The State Secretariat for Support and Promotion of the Private Sector in Timor-Leste said that both Denmark’s Carlsberg and Heineken Singapore wanted to invest in building factories and producing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

The Timorese State Secretariat said Heineken, which is registered as Heineken Timor, is willing to invest US$40 million and 1,000 jobs.

Both companies are waiting to be granted investor status and thus obtain tax benefits . (macauhub/TL)
