Guinea-Bissau is due Friday to receive the inaugural flight of EuroAtlantic, one year after the suspension of the only direct flight between Bissau and Lisbon which was provided by TAP-Air Portugal.
For the inaugural flight the airline is offering a promotion by selling tickets for 327,300 CFA francs (500 euros), and further flights will be priced from 388,000 CFA francs in economy class.
The aeroplane, a Boeing 737-800, leaves Lisbon at 09:00 hours to arrive in Bissau at 13:25 Bissau and returns from the Guinean capital at 15:45 to arrive in Lisbon at 20:00, on a non-stop flight.
The EuroAtlantic aircraft for the Lisbon/Bissau/Lisbon route has the capacity to carry 160 passengers, 144 in economy class and 16 in business class, but if there is “high demand,” the airline will use an aircraft with 200 seats, Manuel Embaló told Portuguese news agency Lusa.
TAP-Air Portugal suspended flights to Guinea-Bissau in December 2013, following the departure forced by the Guinean authorities of 74 Syrians who were in the country on forged documents. (macauhub/PT/GW)
