Manica province, in central Mozambique, is entirely connected to the national power grid following connection of two final districts that had yet to receive mains electricity, according to Mozambican state news agency AIM.
The agency also said the Tambara district will be supplied directly by the Chemba district in the central province of Sofala, whilst the Macossa district will start receiving power from the national grid from the junction with National Highway No. 7 (EN7).
Energy Minister Salvador Namburete is expected to travel to those districts on Thursday to take part in an official ceremony to link the districts to the national grid.
Last February just eight districts across Mozambique, including Tambara and Macossa, were not linked to the national grid, a figure that has decreased as the EdM power grid has been expanded. (macauhub/MZ)
