Macau inflation totals 6.06 pct in November

26 December 2014

The inflation rate in Macau in the 12 months ending in November, compared to the previous 12 months, was 6.06 percent according to official figures.

According to the Statistics and Census Bureau, prices in Macau rose mainly due to increased spending on “housing and fuel” (+11.86 percent) and “food and non-alcoholic beverages” (+6.16 percent).

“The increases were due to the rise in house rentals, as well as the price of meals bought away from home and outpatient appointments,” according to a statement from the Statistics and Census Bureau.

Given the rising cost of living, the Macau government announced wage increases of 6.75 percent for the civil service from January 2015. (macauhub/MO)
