Angolan holding company Holdimo now owns a 29.85-percent stake in the public limited company (SAD) of Portuguese soccer club Sporting Clube de Portugal (SCP) following the conversion of a credit of 20 million euros into capital, SCP said in a statement.
In a statement filed with the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM), the Sporting SAD also said that the operation had been carried out on 21 November last year and, as a result, the capital of the public limited company was increased from 47 million euros to 67 million euros.
“The capital increase was carried out by incorporating a credit of the same amount [20 million euros] held by Holdimo – Participações e Investimentos,” the statement said.
Holdimo is a holding company for stakes owned by several Angolan businessmen, one of whom is Álvaro Sobrinho, owner of Newshold, the company that controls Portuguese media group Cofina, which publishes newspapers including financial daily Jornal de Negócios, daily red top Correio da Manhã and sports newspaper Record.
