Cabo Verde (Cape Verde) had 9,049 active companies at the end of 2013, an annual decrease of 128 companies, according to the provisional results of the Annual Business Survey, conducted by the National Statistics Institute (INE) published Wednesday.
The survey also showed that the number of people employed at companies also decreased slightly, totalling 50,975, or 436 people or 1.4 percent less than in 2012 and that overall turnover rose by 0.71 percent in nominal terms.
Companies without organised accounting posted negative variations in the three indicators analysed – actual companies active -03.04 percent (186 fewer active companies), people employed – 5.59 percent (646 fewer people) and turnover -8.42 percent (833.2 million escudos less than in 2012).
The study conducted by INE showed that companies with organised accounts account for 96 percent of total turnover (the same amount as in 2012), compared to 4 percent for companies without accounting. (macauhub/CV)
