Mozambique receives 1,700 Chinese workers in 2014

China’s embassy in Mozambique has said that about 1,700 Chinese workers were hired in 2014 to work in Mozambique.

The diplomatic representation, citing figures issued by the labour ministry, also said China was the fourth-largest source of foreign workers in Mozambique just behind Portugal, South Africa and India.

The 1,688 Chinese workers account for 9.8 percent of total employed foreign workers.

Over the past year Mozambique has received 3,709 Portuguese workers, 2,859 South Africans and 1,993 Indians. (macauhub/MZ/CN)
