Macau’s inflation rate reached 6.05 percent, with the high prices of rents and meals bought outside the home accounting for 4.2 percentage points of that amount, the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau said.
In 2014 there were substantial increases in the price indices of Housing & Fuels (+11.93 percent) and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+6.11 percent), whilst the cost of Communications fell by 0.31 percent.
The Consumer Price Index rose 5.59 percent in December compared with the same period of 2013, due to significant increases in the categories of Housing and Fuels (+11.69%), Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+5.83 percent) and Health (+5.42 percent).
In December prices grew by 0.29 percent in the month, with increases in the categories of Clothing and Footwear and Recreation and Culture of 2.46 percent and 1.67 percent, respectively. (macauhub/MO)
