A record number of visitors travelled to Macau in 2014, over 31.5 million, an increase of 7.5 percent year on year, reported the Statistics and Census Bureau.
Visitors from mainland China (21.2 million), South Korea (554,500) and Japan (299,800) rose year on year, while visitors from Hong Kong (6.4 million) and Taiwan (953,700) saw a decrease.
The number of US visitors increased but those from Australia, Canada and the UK declined.
In 2014 visitors stayed in Macau for an average of 1.0 days, the same as 2013.
In December, Macau received 2.5 million visitors, a year on year fall of 1.8 percent, with visitors from mainland China accounting for 1.6 million of the total. (macauhub/MO)
