The number of companies registered with Mozambique’s Tax Authority (AT) increased 19.44 percent in 2014, the AT said recently.
At the end of 2014, the AT had 3.25 million taxpayers on its records, of which 67,689 were companies, accounting for 2.09 percent of the total.
The Tax Authority also reported that the number of legal entities was a remarkable increase of 50.44 percent more than five years ago.
The cumulative record at the end of 2014 is 8.3 times more than the number of NUIT (Single Tax Identification Number) assigned on 31 December 2006, the year the Tax Authority was created.
According to the preliminary statement released, tax collection until 30 December, throughout Mozambique, stood at 153.4 billion meticais.
The State Budget for 2014 includes expected tax revenues of 147.3 billion meticais, which was revised upwards to 153.1 billion meticais with the approval of amending budget. (macauhub/MZ)
