Gross casino gaming and gambling revenue in Macau fell in January for the eighth consecutive month, totalling 23.748 billion patacas (US$2.97 billion), the region’s Gaming Inspection and coordination Bureau (DICJ) said.
In January 2014 gross revenue totalled 28.739 billion patacas.
The period of lower gross revenue year on year began in June 2014, the month in which there was a drop of 3.7 percent.
In 2014, gross revenues from gaming and gambling fell by 2.6 percent in to 351.521 billion patacas (US$43.94 billion), the first negative growth since gambling was liberalised in Macau.
At the end of 2014 there were 35 casinos in Macau owned by six concession holders: 20 of Sociedade de Jogos de Macau, six of Galaxy Casino, four Venetian Macau, three Melco Crown Jogos (Macau), one of Wynn Resorts (Macau) and one MGM Grand Paradise, which had a total of 5,711 tables and 13,018 slot machines.
