Angola plans to build more diamond polishing units

11 February 2015

Construction of units for polishing and applying diamonds to jewellery is on the list of priorities of Angola’s national diamond company Endiama, the company’s chairman, Antonio Carlos Sumbula said Monday in Cape Town, South Africa.

The chairman of the Angolan company said that given that the company sells rough diamonds it is essential to transform them into a semi-finished or finished product.

At the end of a seminar on Angola/Canada Business Opportunities, held ahead of the 21st International Mine Conference, Mining Indaba, Sumbula drew attention to the fact that, although they money is made by selling rough diamonds, much more can be made after they are polished.

The Angola/Canada seminar followed another that took place in 2014, according to Angolan news agency Angop.

The 21st International Mine Conference, which opens its doors officially today, will bring together representatives and investors from the mining world, in order to attract investment for a number of projects for exploration of mineral resources. (macauhub/AO)
