Macau receives almost 2.5 million visitors in January

Macau received 2.47 million visitors in January, which was a 1.5 percent decrease year on year, reported the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau.

Most visitors arriving in Macau in the first month of the year came from mainland China – 1.67 million or 1.2 percent fewer in annual terms – mainly from the provinces of Guangdong, Fujian and Hunan.

The number of visitors from Hong Kong (473,200) and Taiwan (76,900) decreased by 4.2 percent and 1.1 percent, respectively, in annual terms, while those from South Korea (68,700) increased by 16.3 percent. (macauhub/MO)
