18 March 2015

Cabo Verde’s (Cape Verde’s) customs services will be modernised with funding from the European Union for the purchase of a Sydonia World computer system, whose public presentation took place Tuesday in Praia, reported weekly newspaper A Semana.

Sydonia World is a computer system designed to improve the efficiency of customs operations, simplify the business environment in terms of customs procedures and documentation and provide information to other users, such as the National Institute of Statistics, Ministry of Finance and Planning, Ministry of Tourism, Investment and Enterprise Development and the Bank of Cabo Verde.

On presenting the system to the public the Ministry of Finance and Planning said operating Sydonia World, as a replacement for Sydonia ++, would make it possible to completely customs administration in Cabo Verde entirely paperless, and contribute to greater transparency and combating corruption in Customs.
