19 March 2015

The distribution centre for products from Portuguese-speaking countries will start operating through a website, due to be launched on 1 April, the new coordinator of the Support Office to the Permanent Secretary of Forum Macau said Wednesday.

Echo Chan, giving assurances that the centre would soon have real physical facilities, said that initially the website would be launched, on 1 April, “the day after the annual forum meeting.”

The new coordinator of the Support Office to the Permanent Secretary of Forum Macau, who has succeeded Rita Santos in office, took office Wednesday in a ceremony presided by the Secretary for Economy and Finance, Lionel Leong Vai Tak.

Echo Chan said in her speech that her new role would make use of the professional experience gained in administrative functions in Macau Institute for Trade and Investment Promotion (IPIM), particularly in supporting the development of economic, commercial and cultural cooperation between Portuguese-speaking countries, Mainland China and Macau.

Chan also said she would look “to promote companies from Mainland China, Portuguese-speaking countries and Macau, taking advantage of the benefits offered by the Macau platform.”

Noting Echo Chan’s curriculum, in particular the fact that she speaks Portuguese fluently, the Secretary for Economy and Finance said that the new coordinator of the Support Office to the Permanent Secretary of Macau Forum would “continue to enhance the position and make important contributions to it.” (macauhub/MO)
