Russia wants to drill for oil in Mozambique

The ambassador of the Russian Federation, Andrey Kemarsky, Wednesday in Maputo said Russia was interested in establishing oil and gas companies in Mozambique, according to a report from Mozambican news agency AIM.

Kemarsky, who was speaking after a meeting with Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi said that Mozambique had great potential in natural resources, including oil, which is why, Russia is attracted to invest in the sector.

“Russia seeks greater involvement in this sector, through research and exploration, construction of oil and gas pipelines. There are many plans, what matters is to put them into practice,” said the ambassador.

According to AIM the diplomat also said that Russia intends to strengthen cooperation ties in the areas of mining, geology and education. (macauhub/MZ)
