The SpeedCast company, of Hong Kong group AsiaSat, signed a contract to supply ConocoPhillips with satellite communications services in the Bayu Undan field in the Timor Sea, the company said in a statement.
The contract, whose value was not disclosed, provides for an increase of communication services via satellite to ConocoPhillips from the Bayu-Undan field, located 250 kilometres southwest of Suai, in the south of Timor-Leste (East Timor), and 500 kilometres northwest of Darwin, Australia, and Conoco headquarters in Perth, Western Australia.
ConocoPhillips operates the field on behalf of a consortium that includes Australian companies Santos, Italy’s ENI and Japan’s Inpex Corp, Tokyo Electric and Tokyo Gas.
SpeedCast has provided satellite communications services to ConocoPhillips for over 10 years for a variety of applications, including ships and offshore platforms, using a wide range of technologies to meet the oil company’s needs. (macauhub/TL)
