The bridge over the river Curoca, the third largest bridge in Angola, was recently inaugurated by the provincial governor of Namibe, Rui Falcão, Angolan news agency Angop reported.
The bridge, construction of which took 20 months, is 800 metres long, 11 metres wide with two lanes and walkways on both sides, providing capacity for loads up to 100 tons and with a useful life of 50 years.
The provincial director of the Angolan Roads Institute, Edgar Xavier, said at the time that as well as this completed bridge another five would be opened soon.
The new bridge connects the city of Namibe, the capital of the province of the same name, to the fishing town of Tômbua, 95 kilometres away. (macauhub/AO)
