29 April 2015

The sale of 60 Embraer aircraft and the reopening of the Chinese market to Brazilian beef are among the main topics to be presented by the Brazilian authorities to the Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang on his visit to Brazil from 19 May, the Brazilian press reported.

During the visit officials are expected to sign, among others, an agreement on investments and production capacity and a cooperation mechanism in the rail sector.

Another issue to be addressed during the visit is Brazil’s involvement in the founding of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (Baii).

Ahead of Li’s visit a high-level mission from National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China is due to arrive in Brazil on 4 May to explore cooperation prospects in the railway sector.

The Chinese mission will also discuss the possibility of Chinese investments in Brazil in the railway sector as well as projects under consideration in the same area, including the connection of Brazil to Peru. (macauhub/BR/CN)
