Macau government committed to the China Free Trade Zone (Guangdong)

The Macau government is committed to supporting the construction of an encouraging the participation of companies and the population in the pilot project of the China Free Trade Zone (Guangdong), said the Chief Executive of Macau, at a session held Thursday.

Chui Sai On considered that the policies of the Guangdong Free Trade Zone had progressed and been closely monitored by the government and said liberalisation policies for trade and services between Guangdong Province and Macau contributed to the integration of the economy of the two regions.

“Integration, namely the internationalisation of the market, commitment in the area of ​​cooperation and innovation of the financial system and also in the area of ​​justice, creating a good business climate aims progressively to eliminate the limits of Macau investors,” said the head of Macau government.

Chui noted the Guangdong Free Trade Zone was an opportunity and added that the government of the Macau Special Administrative Region would carry out a study on the advantages of the policies in the free trade zone, with a view to improving and strengthening monitoring work.

The harmonisation of the Free Trade Zone policies with a view to development of “one centre, one platform,” accelerating development and diversification of the Macau economy and promoting the improvement of people’s living conditions, as specified in Governance Lines of Action, to generate benefits for both sides, he added.

Fourthly, it is necessary to take advantage of the innovative ideas and the advantages of free trade zone policies and to accelerate promotion of existing cooperation projects, in an organised way, to encourage construction and start of operation of both the industrial cooperation park between Guangdong and Macau and the Scientific and Industrial Traditional Chinese Medicine Park.
