Portuguese company signs contract for repair work in Luanda, Angola

The contract for the repair of streets, sidewalks, kerbs and traffic signs in Luanda was signed on Wednesday by Portugal’s Mota-Engil construction company and the Luanda provincial government.

The work comprises repairing holes, sidewalks and kerbs, replacing damaged or missing vertical signage, replacing pavement with asphalt, placing missing lids on sewage disposal systems, kerbstone painting and installation of horizontal signage.

The contract is budgeted at US$78.9 million and must be completed within six months. Work is expected to begin on Wednesday and finish by 9 November this year.

Angop news agency reported that 16 streets had been designated as priorities, adding that project manager Paulo Pinheiro had guaranteed that the deadline would be met along with the durability requirement of nearly two years. (Macauhub/AO/PT)
