Cape Verdean company Spencer Construções & Imobiliária (SCI) plans to build small hotel units on the islands of Santo Antão, São Vicente and Santiago, increasing their accommodation capacity to 300 rooms, the director of the company said.

On the island of Santo Antão, SCI will build a 4-star boutique hotel with 20 rooms, and the other two units on the islands of São Vicente and Santiago will be built in “well to do” areas.

João Spencer, cited by Cape Verdean newspaper A Semana, said the company’s main market remains the island of Santo Antão, where it plans further to improve its tourist reception capacity, which involves increasing the number of beds available.

Recently, Spencer Construções & Imobiliária has built 18 houses in the tourist village of Lombo Branco, as part of a small, integrated resort.

Also in its completion phase is a hotel in Ponta do Sol, on the island of Santo Antão, with about 85 rooms, costing an estimated 300 million escudos financed by Cape Verdean bank Caixa Económica de Cabo Verde. (macauhub/CV)
