Prices in Macau registered annual growth of 4.51 percent in April, which continued to be driven by an increase in house rents and the cost of eating out, reported the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau.
In April and compared to the same month of 2014 there were significant rises in the price indices of housing & fuels (+9.84 percent), health (+5.17 percent) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (+4.73 percent).
In the month under review the Consumer Price Index rose 0.31 percent over March, with the indices of the categories of clothing and footwear and transport rising by 2.81 percent and 0.67 percent respectively.
The inflation rate, measured by the average of the indices of the last 12 months against the preceding 12 months, stood at 5.62 percent, due to substantial increases in the categories of Housing and Fuel (+11.49 percent), Food & Non-alcoholic beverages (+5.66 percent) and Health (+4.83 percent).
