The Angola Debt and Securities and Exchange (Bodiva) on 20 May registered its first securities transaction by launching the Treasury Securities Registration Market (MRTT), Bodiva said in a statement.
In a statement published in Luanda, Bodiva announced the trade of 1,600 Treasury bonds at nominal value, issued in 2008 and maturing in 2018. The financial intermediary was Banco de Fomento de Angola, the first entity to register as a trading and settlement member of the securities exchange.
The stock exchange also reported anther five transactions last week, worth a total of 163 million kwanzas.
The MRTT is the first market segment to be available by Bodiva, enabling individuals and institutional investors to register Treasury bill transactions, which so far were made without the knowledge of other market participants or the general public.
Registering transactions on the MRTT, by informing the market of terms (price and quantity), contributes to increased transparency and investor confidence, as well as to the pricing of listed assets to serve as a benchmark for future transactions. (macauhub/AO)
