Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Xiaomi is due to debut in Brazil on 30 June, at a meeting in São Paulo, the company said in a statement cited by the Brazilian press.
At that meeting, Xiaomi’s vice president for international expansion, Brazil’s Hugo Barra, will announce the products with which the company will start operating in Brazil and how its marketing will be carried out.
In China, where the company overtook South Korea’s Samsung in the number of handsets sold, the company’s products are exclusively sold online.
Xiaomi does not currently sell any of its products in Brazil but in December 2014 the National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) authorised the sale in Brazil of the group’s first mobile phone, the Redmin Note 4G. (macauhub/BR/CN)
