China plans to build a centre for production of electric vehicles in Brazil after a delegation led by the Minister of Science and Technology recently visited São José dos Campos, in the state of São Paulo, according to the Brazilian press.

The delegation led by Minister Wan Gang was received by the Director of the Technology Park, Marco Antonio Raupp, and the meeting discussed a future partnership between the park and the Chinese government to install a centre for production of electric vehicles.

The idea is to make use of the Electric Dreams company factory, which is already installed in the Technology Park, to start work, and the Chinese Minister presented a model that is already being manufactured by a Chinese company.

The director of Electric Dreams, Fábio Guillaumon, said ideally technologies developed by the company for a “Sporty, high performance electric vehicle,” would be included in the vehicle assembled by the Chinese in the industrial park.

The Paraíba Valley is expected to receive new investments in partnership with the Chinese to build a new industrial centre in Jacarei, sponsored by automaker Chery, the development of CBERS satellite (“China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite”) and the sale of aircraft by Embraer. (macauhub/BR/NC)
