Annual inflation in Macau rose by 4.91 percent in June, due to and increase in house rents and prices of meals bought outside the home as well as car parking fees, reported the region’s Statistics and Census Bureau.
The Bureau also reported that compared to June 2014 there were significant increases in the price indices of Housing & Fuels (+9.17 percent), Health (+6.22 percent), Household Equipment and Materials (+ 5.24 percent) and Food and Non-alcoholic Beverages (+5.15 percent).
In June, the Consumer Price Index recorded an increase of 0.48 percent compared to May, with stronger growth in the indices of Clothing & Footwear (+1.69 percent) and Transport (1.37 percent).
The inflation rate, measured by the average of the indices in the last 12 months over the preceding 12 months, increased by 5.43 percent, with marked increases in Housing and Fuel (+11.09 percent), Food and Non-alcoholic Beverages (+5.52 percent) and Health (+5.12 percent). (macauhub/MO)
